Tour Nazareth, Tiberias & Sea Of Galilee

 Via the coastal plain and the valley of Armageddon to the Churches of Annunciation and St. Joseph in Nazareth. Passing Cana and the Church of the Miracle of the Multiplication visit Capernaum,  at the foot of Mount Beatitudes. Continue past Tiberias to Yardenit where there is the possibility of a baptismal service for participants. Pass Mount Tabor on the return journey.

Valley of Armageddon

The tour to Nazareth, Tiberius and the Sea of Galilee starts with a drive up the Israeli Mediterranean coast then we veer off towards the Valley of Armageddon. The Valley of Armageddon is mentioned in the Bible as the location of the End Times when G-d and Satan will battle and as the point of assembly for a gathering of Kings (Revelations 16:16) in preparation for battle. The Valley of Armageddon was also on the route of the "Via Maris" or Sea Road which kings and armies passed through from Egypt to ancient Mesopotamia.

Nazareth

The tour continues onto the home town of Jesus' parents – Nazareth - were we visit the Church of the Annunciation. Here we see the grotto of the Annunciation thought to be the Virgin Mary's childhood home, and the place where the angel Gabriel came to Mary to tell her she would soon become pregnant with the son of G-d. The modern Church of the Annunciation is built on the remains of Crusader and Byzantine churches. Our tour to Nazareth continues to the Saint Joseph's Church situated where Jesus' earthly father, Joseph had his carpenter's workshop and family home. You can visit the basement cavern where Joseph's workshop was located.

Kfar Kana

We pass through Biblical Cana now a village shared by Arabs and Jews, the village was the location of several Biblical miracles, including Jesus turning water into wine.

Church of the Multiplication

We stop off at Tabgha the site of the Church of the Multiplication where Jesus performed the miracle of the multiplication of loaves and fish by feeding 5000 people with 5 loaves and two fish (Mark 6:32-35). Within the church you can see a 5^th century floor mosaic and a limestone slab believed to be the table where Jesus served this miraculous meal.

Capernaum

In the Biblical fishing village of Capernaum where Jesus lived and preached there are remains of two ancient synagogues and a church said to have been the home of the apostle Peter. Capernaum is mentioned many times in the Gospel of Luke and also in Mark as the site of numerous miracles performed by Jesus Christ.

Mount Beatitudes

Near Capernaum we see the Mount Beatitudes where Jesus delivered the famous Sermon on the Mount as described in the New Testament. On the Mount there is a Byzantine Church and Roman Catholic Franciscan chapel.

Sea of Galilee

The tour wends it's way down towards the serene Sea of Galilee where Jesus walked on the water and calmed a storm. The Sea of Galilee is surrounded by Biblical sites where Jesus preached to his followers.

Tiberius

On the shores of the Sea of Galilee we pass by the modern city of Tiberius, during the time of the second temple Tiberius was an important hub of Jewish learning and here the Jerusalem Talmud was written.

Yardenit

At the point where the Jordan River flows into the Sea of Galilee, you have the opportunity of being baptized in the River Jordan as Jesus and John were. Mathew 3:13 describes how John baptized Jesus at this very place, in the sacred River Jordan.

Mount Tabor

Our return journey will take us past Mount Tabor the site of the Transfiguration of Jesus.
